Summary:Provided is an aqueous composition that is acid-resistant, does not cause blockage of spray nozzle even without a cooling equipment, and can be suitably used in an enteric coating preparation in a simple and convenient manner. The aqueous composition includes hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose acetate succinate having an acetyl group substitution degree from 0.10 to 2.50 and a succinyl group substitution degree from 0.05 to 2.50 per number of anhydroglucose unit; a neutralizer; and water. The degree of neutralization of the hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose acetate succinate by the neutralizer is from 130 to 260 mol %.
