Summary:The invention relates to a liquid sampling device (100) comprising a support structure (106) having a liquid reception interface (130) that is in fluid communication with a reservoir chamber (134) and a microfluidic valve (136), the microfluidic valve (136) being connected to a measuring chamber (138). The liquid reception interface (130), the reservoir chamber (134) and the microfluidic valve (136) are configured to allow liquid entering the liquid reception interface to flow into the reservoir chamber (134) while being prevented from passing the microfluidic valve (136) unless a predetermined static pressure difference over the microfluidic valve (136) is exceeded. The microfluidic valve (136) is a passive valve without moving parts. Passing of liquid through the microfluidic valve is controlled by a static pressure difference over the microfluidic valve (136). The reservoir chamber (134) is configured and arranged to cause high enough a static pressure at an entrance side of the microfluidic valve (136) that causes a flow of liquid through the microfluidic valve (136) into the measuring chamber (138) once the reservoir chamber (134) is completely filled.
