The present disclosure relates to a sterilising container (2) for medical purposes, in particular for medical instruments and the like, comprising a base element (4), a cover (6), which can be fastened to the base element (4) and which, when the lid (6) is closed, together with the base element (4) defines an inner region of the sterilising container (2), a media exchange mechanism, which is designed, when the lid (6) is closed, to be able to selectively open and close at least one fluid-mechanical connection (8) between the inner region and a surrounding environment, and a control device (14), which is designed to be able to control the media exchange mechanism. According to the disclosure, the sterilising container (2) has a ventilation device (12), which is designed to be able to convey a medium in the inner region and/or a medium in the surrounding environment of the sterilising container (2) to the media exchange mechanism, and the control device (14) is designed to be able to control the media exchange mechanism and the ventilation device (12) in such a way that the at least one fluid-mechanical connection (8) is open when a medium is conveyed. The present disclosure additionally relates to a control device for external control of a control device (30) of a sterilising container (2).
