The invention relates to a process for surface structuring of a metal workpiece and process for producing a hybrid product from a metal workpiece and a polymer material. The technical problem is how to provide a time and energy efficient process that will ensure good adhesion between the metal and the polymer. The technical problem is solved by a process comprising providing a metal workpiece, providing a laser device comprising a pulsed laser source and a controller adapted to control the laser, providing scanning-focusing optics for guiding and focusing the laser beam, the scanning-focusing optics being adapted to guide the laser beam over the surface of the metal workpiece.
