Summary:Disclosed is an aqueous personal care composition, particularly oil-in-water, water-in-oil skin care emulsion or a suspension composition comprising 0.1 to 10 wt. % of low substituted carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) alone or in combination with 0.01 to 10 wt. % of at least one nature derived or at least one fossil derived polymer, 0.01 to 60 wt. % of at least one personal care additive, and water; wherein, the low substituted carboxymethyl cellulose has an average degree of carboxymethyl substitution (DS) per anhydroglucose unit is in the range of from about 0.5 to about 0.7, and wherein, the low substituted carboxymethyl cellulose is readily biodegradable.
