Summary: | In a process for fabricating an electrochemical analyte sensor, a sensor substrate (101) that carries a working electrode (131) comprising a platinum black layer (104) is provided. An analyte sensing layer (105) is disposed onto the platinum black layer. In order to reproducibly obtain high sensitivity and long-term stability, the platinum black layer is activated before the analyte sensing layer is disposed onto the platinum black layer. For activation, the sensor substrate is exposed to ultraviolet radiation in an ozone-containing atmosphere. |
