Summary:In alternative embodiments, provided are PHA compositions comprising a polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) polymer and a viscosity modifying agent. The composition can also include a nucleating agent, an antioxidant, a dispersant, a viscosity modifying agent, an ultraviolet light inhibitor, an emulsifying agent and/or a stabilizer. Methods of manufacturing include forming the PHA composition into a polymer melt or an aqueous dispersion. The PHA composition can be used as a coating on paper, cardboard or paperboard substrates, or other surfaces, including on inks or adhesives.
