Summary:An ultrasonic surgical instrument includes an ultrasonic waveguide defining a blade at a distal end thereof, and a jaw member. The ultrasonic waveguide is configured to transmit ultrasonic energy therealong to the blade for treating tissue therewith. The jaw member is movable relative to the blade from a spaced-apart position to an approximated position. The jaw member has a more-rigid structural body and a more-compliant jaw liner engaged with the structural body. The jaw liner defines a tissue grasping surface having a configuration at least partially complementary to a configuration of a tissue grasping surface of the blade such that, in the approximated position, the tissue grasping surfaces are configured to grasp tissue therebetween with the at least partially complementary configurations of the first and second tissue grasping surfaces facilitating tissue grasping.
