Summary:The invention relates to a water beam for generating fluid jets in order to hydrodynamically solidify a material web, comprising a plurality of nozzle openings for discharging the fluid jets onto the material web, said nozzle openings being arranged in a mutually spaced manner along the longitudinal extension of the water beam. The water beam lower face facing the material web has a sub-surface which is inclined away from the material web on both sides of the nozzle openings when viewed in the width extension of the water beam so that a wedge-shaped free space is produced between the lower face of the water beam and the material web, wherein the wedge-shaped free space tapers in the direction of the nozzle openings when viewed along the width extension of the water beam. The invention is characterized in that the angle of inclination of the sub-surface of the lower face of the water beam is between 5° and 25°. The invention additionally relates to a system for solidifying a material web, comprising at least one water beam for generating fluid jets in order to a hydrodynamically solidify the material web, said water beam being designed according to the invention.
