Summary:Apparatuses and techniques are provided for on-time delivery of data packets via a series of computing nodes in a network. A node receives a data packet from an input network interface, enforces an earliest allowable time for transmittal of the data packet to a next node based on data extracted from an information field in the data packet, determines a transmittal time for the data packet which is no sooner than the earliest allowable time for transmittal, stores an indication of a minimum delay for the data packet at the next node, based on the determined transmittal time, in the information field of the data packet, and transmits the data packet to the next node via an output network interface.
