Summary:An optical line sensor member 9 constituting a part of an optical line sensor unit 1 that reads a paper sheet includes a transparent member 11 that transmit light and a cover member 12, and the transparent member 11 has a substantially trapezoidal cross section taken along a direction orthogonal to a main scanning direction and has a tapered surface on a side parallel to the main scanning direction. The substantially trapezoidal cross section is a cross section in which the conveyance path side on which a paper sheet is conveyed is a short side. Further, the cover member 12 also has a tapered surface formed substantially parallel to the transparent member 11, and the tapered surface of the transparent member and the tapered surface of the cover member are bonded to each other so that the transparent member and the cover member are joined.
