Summary:There is described an exit device (10) for a door (14) located in a door frame (24) having a door strike (22), comprising a latchbolt assembly (28) including an extended position configured to engage the door strike (22) and a retracted position configured to move past the door strike (22). The exit device (10) also comprises a pushbar assembly (16) having a released position and a pressed position, wherein movement of the pushbar assembly (16) from the released position to the pressed position moves the latchbolt assembly (28) from the extended position to the retracted position. The exit device (10) further comprises a link assembly (32, 70, 78) operatively connected to the pushbar assembly (16), wherein the link assembly (32, 70, 78) includes an elongated aperture (88) configured to engage a pivot member (72, 104) located at a first position within the elongated aperture (88) when exposed to a first temperature and located at a second position within the elongated aperture (88) when exposed to a second temperature higher than the first temperature.
