Summary:In order to refine a separation element (100) for separating oil aerosol particles formed from crude gas, having - at least one coalescence filter medium (10) folded multiple times, one longitudinal face (12) of each of the filter medium folds forming the dirty side of the filter medium folds and the other longitudinal face (12) of each of the filter medium folds forming the clean side of the filter medium folds, - at least one spacer (20), which in each case is assigned to one fold of the coalescence filter medium (10) and is designed to space apart the longitudinal faces (12) of this fold, and - at least one frame (30) for receiving the coalescence filter medium (10) with the spacers (20) integrated in the folds of the coalescence filter medium (10), and also in order to refine a method for producing a separation element (100) of this kind such that the separation element (100) is particularly climate-friendly, reliable and economical, it is proposed that - the spacer (20) comprises at least one porous material, - the porous material of the spacer (20) is three-dimensionally formed, and - the spacer (20) extends in a planar manner between the longitudinal faces of the filter medium fold assigned to said spacer in such a way that at least one channel (50) through which the crude gas can be passed is provided between the fold crest and the fold valley of this filter medium fold.
