Summary:Systems and methods are disclosed that include providing a valve suitable for maintaining a seal and preventing fluid flow through the valve at cryogenic temperatures. The valve includes a valve body, a ball selectively rotatable within the valve body, a seat having a seat insert at disposed within the valve body and configured to form a seal with the ball, and a seal disposed within a cavity formed between the valve body and the seat. The seal includes a seal body having a heel, an upper leg and a lower leg extending from the heel, and a cavity comprising a first cavity portion and a second cavity portion disposed between the upper leg and the lower leg. The first cavity portion includes at least one energizing element, and the second cavity portion may be free of an energizing element or include an energizing element.
