Summary:A system and method for non-contact or remote monitoring of blood pressure changes of a subject. Embodiments are based on using a headgear apparatus with a skin interface module, arranged when worn to apply a pre-defined non-uniform pressure profile to a region of skin. The system includes optical or electromagnetic sensing equipment, e.g. a camera, arranged with a field of view which covers the skin interface module and arranged to obtain optical sensing data for the skin region being applied with the pressure profile. From the optical sensing data, remote PPG sensor readings can be obtained for a plurality of skin contact locations being applied with different respective pressures. Blood pressure changes can be detected based on changes in the distribution of PPG signal (or derived pulse amplitude signal) readings across the plurality of skin contact locations.
