Summary:A control circuit (200) configured to control a relay (214) for activating a motor (102) of an appliance (100) is described. The appliance (100) comprises a control unit (101) configured to generate a control signal (203) for controlling the relay (214), and a manual control element (110) configured to generate an edge within an actuation signal (202) subject to actuation of the manual control element (110). The control circuit (200) comprises an AND gate (212) configured to forward the control signal (203) at an input port of the AND gate (212) to an output port of the AND gate (212) in dependence of a state of a safety signal (214), wherein the output port of the AND gate (212) is configured to be coupled to the relay (214). Furthermore, the control circuit (200) comprises a latch (211) configured to set the state of the safety signal (214) at an output port of the latch (211) in dependence of the presence of an edge within the actuation signal (202) at an input port of the latch (211).
