Summary:Disclosed are a display device and a remote controller controlling same. The display device comprises a communication unit for receiving a request packet periodically transmitted from the remote controller including a plurality of buttons, wherein the request packet includes an event associated with a first button among the plurality of buttons; an identification unit for periodically identifying whether the request packet is received within a first time section; and a control unit for, when periodic reception of the request packet is stopped within the first time section, controlling the operation of the display device to forcibly perform a release event of the first button.
