Summary:A preheating power supply (208) comprising power conversion circuitry and a bypass path prevention circuit (302). The power conversion circuitry includes first and second output power connectors (220, 230) of the preheating power supply (208) wherein the first output power connector (230) is connected to a second output power connector (220) of a different power supply, wherein both the first and second output power connectors (220, 230) are connected to a first contact tip (210), and wherein the power conversion circuitry is configured to output welding-type power to the first contact tip (2109 via the first output power connector and a second output power connector. The bypass path prevention circuit (302) is configured to prevent less than a threshold voltage applied to the first output power connector and the second output power connector from a different power supply from causing current to flow between the first output power connector and the second output power connector. The preheating power supply (208) establishes a preheat current path configured to return to the preheating power supply via the second output power connector of the different power supply.
