Summary: | The invention relates to the production of an icephobic surface, using the sol-gel method without fluorides, on commercial polyurethane paints and describes a new method for preparing a coating having excellent icephobic characteristics. The method is simple, easy to scale, uses low-cost raw materials and can be applied to commercial polyurethane-based paints. The method comprises preparing a sol-gel that is deposited to form a heterogeneous film of drops on a smooth and homogeneous previous layer of commercial paint. The coating allows the adhesion strength of the ice to be reduced by up to 80%. The icephobic surfaces of this invention can be used to protect surfaces in various sectors, such as aeronautics, wind, energy or telecommunications, where other anti-ice systems would not be easily applicable. |
