Summary:The invention relates to a high-pressure fuel pump (30) comprising a housing (58), a pump chamber (60) arranged in the housing (58), and a pump piston (62) that can move in the housing (58) and delimiting the pump chamber (60). A pressure-limiting valve (56) integrated into the pump is arranged in a substantially cylindrical blind hole (69), which is widened in a radial direction in comparison to a cylindrical blind hole by an additional recess (10) in the housing (58), such that the recess (10) forms a damping volume arranged radially outside the pressure-limiting valve (56). With the existence of the damping volume, the occurrence of cavitation erosion on the pressure-limiting valve (56) is considerable reduced.
