Summary:The present application belongs to the technical field of terminals, and relates to a method of operating a component, a terminal and a storage medium, the method of operating a component includes: obtaining a component adding instruction and first free space information of a current interface, and/or upon detecting presence of an icon or a component to be removed in the current interface, obtaining second free space information after removing the icon and/or the component to be removed and displaying components matching the free space information, where the free space information including the first free space information and/or the second free space information; receiving an adding instruction, and adding a selected component to the current interface. Therefore, the present application can make the desktop component adding function more intelligent and humanized, and ensure the simplicity and effectiveness of users' operation of adding a desktop component.
