Summary:A pollution mask includes detection of inhalation and exhalation portions of the breathing cycle of the user. A particle or pollution sensor is used for sensing inside the air chamber and providing a sensing result. Sensing results are combined in respect of a plurality of inhalation portions or exhalation portions to derive a combined sensing result. This enables a sufficient sensing time period during only inhalation portions or during only exhalation portions, in order to obtain an accurate sensing result.
