A method for the production of drinking straws (20) from paper, having the following method steps: * - a first material strip (3) is conveyed in the conveying direction (10) along the longitudinal axis, wherein the first material strip (3) has a first width, * - a second material strip (7) is conveyed in the conveying direction (10) along the longitudinal axis, wherein the second material strip (7) has a second width, * - the first material strip (3) and/or the second material strip (7) are/is glued using a first adhesive, which is water-resistant or is at least temporarily resistant to water, wherein at least one longitudinally running peripheral region of the second material strip (7) is glued using the first adhesive or a second adhesive, * - the first material strip (3) and the second material strip (7) are brought together in an offset manner while being conveyed along the longitudinal axis, and therefore the first and the second material strips (3, 7) are positioned one above the other, * - the material strips (3, 7) positioned one above the other are formed into a tubular strand (11), wherein the first material strip (3) is located on the inside and the longitudinally running edges (8, 8') of the first material strip (3) are in abutment, and * - the strand (11) is cut to length to form double-layered drinking straws (20).
