Summary:The present invention relates to a method for isolating a fraction of immunoglobulin A (IgA) specifically binding to one or more carbohydrates specific for the surface of one or more bacteria species from a body fluid. Furthermore, the present invention refers to a fraction of IgA obtainable from such method and its use for treating or preventing a respiratory disease associated with an infection with Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Neisseria meningitidis, or a combination of two or more thereof.
