Summary:The invention relates to an airbag module (1) for a vehicle occupant restraint system having at least one airbag (2) for mounting on a vehicle body, there being provided at least one retaining element (4), which can be fastened to the vehicle on one side and is fastened to the airbag on the other side, to position the airbag (2) in the active state. According to the invention, the retaining element (4) is fastened to an additional, non-inflatable area portion (5a) which is connected to an inflatable portion (6) of the airbag (2).
