Embodiments of the present disclosure provides a method and apparatus for constructing a map. An embodiment of the method includes: determining pose information of each panoramic image frame from a panoramic image sequence of a target area, and determining a perspective image sequence from each panoramic image frame; determining a feature track corresponding to the panoramic image sequence based on perspective image sequences corresponding to adjacent panoramic image frames; and constructing a visual map of the target area based on the feature track and the pose information of each panoramic image frame. The method and apparatus for constructing a map provided in the embodiments of the present disclosure, based on determining a perspective image sequence from a panoramic image sequence of a target area, determining a corresponding feature track, and constructing a visual map in combination with pose information of respective panoramic image frames, thereby reducing the difficulty of acquiring an image in the process of constructing the map, and reducing the adverse effect of the quality of the acquired image on the accuracy of constructing the visual map.
