This application provides a channel playing method and a related device, to collect statistics on channel playing information of a terminal, and update a mosaic channel bitstream and a played image based on a statistical result. In this way, subchannels of a mosaic channel are updated based on the playing information of the terminal, and the terminal device plays an adapted mosaic channel, to improve user experience. The method includes: obtaining, by a video server, channel playing statistical information of a terminal, where the channel playing statistical information includes a plurality of channel identifiers; updating, by the video server, subchannels of a mosaic channel based on the channel identifiers in the channel playing statistical information; and sending, by the video server, a channel generation instruction to a mosaic generator, where the channel generation instruction is used to instruct the mosaic generator to generate a mosaic channel bitstream that includes the updated subchannels and channel identifiers of the updated subchannels, and the channel generation instruction includes the channel identifiers of the updated subchannels.
