Summary:Film forming compositions and methods for occluding dentin tubules of teeth to treat dentinal hypersensitivity of the teeth are provided. The film forming compositions may include a hydrophobic copolymer, a rosin, and an orally acceptable solvent. The hydrophobic copolymer may include an acrylate/octylacrylamide copolymer, such as 2-propenoic acid, 2-methyl-, 2- methylpropyl ester, polymer with 2-propenoic acid and N-(1, 1,3,3- tetramethylbutyl)-2- propenamide. Methods for treating dentinal hypersensitivity may include contacting the film forming composition with surfaces of the teeth.
