Summary:An apparatus (1) for detecting objects comprises an optical interferometer (2) that is configured to receive electromagnetic radiation from a light source (3), and emit electromagnetic radiation to a detector (4). The optical interferometer (2) is coupled to an environment and further configured to respond to objects (10) in the environment intruding into an interaction volume (5) of the optical interferometer (2) by varying an intensity of the electromagnetic radiation emitted to the detector (4) based on a property of the objects (10) in the interaction volume (5). A signal processor is configured to generate an output signal based on the intensity of the electromagnetic radiation emitted to the detector (4).
