Summary:Provided is an aerosol generating device including a cartridge comprising: an atomizer heating an aerosol generating material to generate aerosol; a mouthpiece through which the generated aerosol is released to outside; a main body accommodating the cartridge; and a sensor configured to detect release of the aerosol to the outside; wherein a first air channel is formed between the cartridge and the main body and guides external air introduced through an air inlet to the mouthpiece through the atomizer, and wherein a second air channel is formed in the main body such that the first air channel and the second air channel are in fluid communication, and wherein the sensor detects the release of the aerosol to the outside based on a change in air flow rate or air pressure of the second air channel.
