The side vehicle-body structure includes a center pillar 35 in which a lower end side is positioned on a vehicle-width-direction outer side with respect to an upper end thereof, in which the center pillar 35 includes an outer wall 35, a breakage inducing portion 36 that is provided to be close to a lower portion of an outer wall 35c of the center pillar 35 and is configured to induce breakage at time of a side collision, and a step-down portion 35f provided in a corner portion of a center pillar outer wall 35c of the breakage inducing portion 36, and an energy absorbing material 50 is disposed between the step-down portion 35f and an inner panel 32.
