Summary:The invention relates to a method for the communication of a motor vehicle (K1) with a traffic participant. The communication is carried out such that the traffic participant is informed on a planned maneuver of the motor vehicle (K1) or an eminent door opening of the motor vehicle (K1) and/or on whether the motor vehicle (K1) has detected the other traffic participant. In the method, at least one optically visible appearance is generated on a surface (F) which can be traversed and/or on the motor vehicle (K1). According to the invention, the optically visible appearance is carried out by the motor vehicle (K1) during an intentional lane change of the motor vehicle (K1) to a specific lane of a traversable surface (F) or during an intentional lane change from a lane of a traversable surface (F) to a parking lane such that a light appearance is generated consisting of at least one completely illuminated lighting segment (17) or at least one contour (27) surrounding a surface on the traversable surface (F). Alternatively or in addition thereto, the optically visible appearance can be formed on at least one display or light generating device which surrounds or virtually surrounds the motor vehicle (K1) longitudinally. By virtue of the invention, the communication between the motor vehicle (K1) and other traffic participants is optimized.
