There is provided a three-dimensional position indicator that allows consistency to be kept in operation work by setting the same indicated position between an input surface of a position detecting sensor and a three-dimensional space based on a spatial position detecting device.A spatial position index part for carrying out interaction with an external device to cause the external device to detect a position and a direction in a spatial coordinate system of a three-dimensional space is disposed in such a manner that a tip part on one end side of a bar-shaped part in the axis center direction is in specific positional relation and directional relation with the detected position and direction. An interaction part for carrying out interaction with a position detecting sensor is disposed in the bar-shaped part in order to cause a position indicated by the tip part to be detected by the position detecting sensor. The position indicated by the tip part on the one end side of the bar-shaped part in the axis center direction in the three-dimensional space is allowed to be calculated in the external device, based on the position and the direction detected by the interaction with the spatial position index part and the specific positional relation and directional relation.
