Summary: | The invention relates to a sliding bearing element (2), in particular for supporting the crankshaft or a connecting rod in internal combustion engines, said element comprising: a metal support layer (4), in particular made of steel; a bearing metal layer (6) made of a lead-free aluminium base alloy comprising magnesium and manganese; and a running layer (8). The aluminium base alloy comprises: 0.5 - 6.0 wt.% magnesium; 0.05 - 2 wt.% manganese; optionally one or more alloy components selected from the group consisting of zinc, silicon, copper, iron, chrome, titanium, zirconium, vanadium, nickel, cobalt, cerium, and contamination-related alloy components, the latter not exceeding 1 wt.%; the remainder being aluminium, and a total content of zinc, copper and nickel not exceeding 8 wt.% and a total content of all alloy components not exceeding 12 wt.%. According to the invention: an aluminium oxide-rich surface zone (14) having a thickness of 0.5 - 5 ym is produced in the bearing metal layer (6) by mechanically blasting an upper side (12) of the bearing metal layer (6) before the application of the running layer (8) and then applying the running layer (8) to the blasted upper side (12) of the bearing metal layer (6); and the running layer (8) is an anti-friction coating (10) having a polymeric binder. |
