A device (DC) controlling the activation/deactivation of an autonomous driving function within a vehicle (V) with partly autonomous driving. This device (DC) comprises firstly a command unit (OC) generating a first command able to activate this function when it is actuated by the driver and generating a second command when it is actuated by the driver when the autonomous driving function is active, and secondly control means (MC) that, when they receive this second command, trigger the provision of at least one message indicating, to the driver, each operation to be performed in order to resume at least partial control of the driving, and then authorize this resumption of control when each indicated operation has been performed by the driver.
