The adapter (300) comprises a body (301) configured to receive a bend portion (116) of a first articulation elongate member (111, 112). The body (301) includes a first, distal end (302) configured to be attached to an end effector (20) and a second, proximal end (304) configured to be coupled to an articulation link (400) of the articulation section (30). The body (301) further comprises a first side cavity (320) at least partially defined by a first ledge (322). The first ledge (322) includes a bend configured to support the bend portion (116) of the first articulation elongate member (111, 112). A t least one channel (326) extends from the first side cavity (320) toward the second, proximal end (304) of the body (301). The at least one channel (326) is configured to receive portions of the first articulation elongate member (111, 112) that are attached to the bend portion (116); and a first anchoring member (330) configured to fixedly attach the bend portion (116) of the first articulation elongate member (111, 112) to the body (301).
