Summary:The invention relates to a melt spinning apparatus for producing synthetic threads, with a large number of spinning positions. Each spinning position has a spinneret device, a cooling device, a godet device and a winding device. An automatic operating device is provided to piece the threads in the spinning positions, said device being able to be moved to each of the spinning positions in order to piece the threads. The automatic operating device is guided by a guide device and can be optionally moved to each of the spinning positions. In order to guide a thread group, the automatic operating device has a compressed air-operated suction injector which is coupled to a yarn waste container. In order to accommodate a thread waste, the yarn waste container has according to the invention a cyclone-shaped internal structure, by which the thread waste can be deposited in a helical manner.
