Summary:Claimed is an acoustic shielding component (1200) and an in-ear device with the acoustic shielding component mounted in an opening of the device housing. The acoustic shielding component comprises: a stiffener (1206) formed of a rigid material providing structural integrity to the acoustic shielding component, the stiffener (1206) comprising first and second walls (1216a, 1216b) extending along a length of the stiffener and a plurality of ribs (1214) spaced apart from each other and extending between the first and second walls; a cosmetic mesh (1204) comprising a plurality of interlaced wires, a mesh cover (1208) disposed over the stiffener and having an outer surface and an inner surface, and a mesh wall (1210) extending from an outer periphery of the inner surface of the mesh cover and defining a tab (1212); and an acoustic mesh (1202) disposed between the stiffener and the cosmetic mesh.
