A beverage machine (100) that brews beverages from a beverage pod is described. The machine comprises a brewer (1100) configured to receive brewing sub-elements from a grinder (600) and brew the brewing sub-elements into a beverage, the brew chamber comprising: an upper brew chamber (1112), a lower brew chamber (1114) coupled to a lower plunger (1104), and wherein the lower plunger and the lower brew chamber are moveable with respect to each other between: a down state in which the lower brew chamber is decoupled from the upper brew chamber section such that brewing sub elements material are loadable into the brew chamber from the housing, an up state in which the upper brew chamber is coupled to the lower brew chamber such that the upper brew chamber and lower brew chamber form a liquid-tight seal; a remove state in which the lower brew chamber is decoupled from the upper brew chamber such that brewing sub-elements are removable from the brew chamber, and a wiper apparatus (1000) coupling the grinder to the brewer, the wiper apparatus configured to: move brewing sub-elements from the grinder to the brewer when the wiper apparatus is actuated, the wiper apparatus moving the brewing sub-elements to the brewer when the lower plunger and lower brew chamber are in the down state, move brewing sub-elements out of the brewer when the wiper apparatus is actuated, the wiper apparatus removing the brewing sub-elements when the lower plunger and the lower brew chamber are in the remove state; and a fluidic system coupled to the brew chamber and configured to dispense the beverage from the brewer while the brewer is in the up state.
