Summary:The invention concerns a method of producing an article of footwear (10) comprising:(a) providing an upper (11); (b) providing a mold (21) and opening the mold (21); (c) inserting the upper (11) into the open mold (21); (d) closing the mold (21); and (e) injecting a pressurized molten resin, (f) wherein, after the injecting, there is a gap (22) filled with the resin between a side wall (25) of the mold (21) and an outer surface (17) of at least a first portion of the upper (11), wherein the gap (22) is essentially zero at a contacting point (24), wherein the gap (22) increases gradually from the contacting point (24) in at least a first region (39) of the mold (21).
