Summary:A modular fluid characterisation system (100) comprises a first sample channel inlet (110) containing optional pre-processing units to condition samples and a valve network (121,122) to distribute samples to one or more characterisation modules (131,132). Each characterisation module (131,132) comprises one or more instruments for characterising samples. Sample flows are controlled by operating the valves (121,122) in accordance with an automated characterisation program (141), and a resulting characterisation may be obtained on the basis of a combination of the results from different characterisation modules.
