The invention relates to a protective cap (1) for a ball joint for protecting a completely assembled ball joint. The protective cap for a ball joint has a bellows section (3) for covering a seal bellows of the completely assembled ball joint and a pin section (5) which adjoins the bellows section and which is open towards the bellows section for covering a pin part of the completely assembled ball joint, said pin section being pluggable onto the pin part. The invention is characterized in that the pin section is cup-shaped in order to completely seal the pin part. The invention additionally relates to a completely assembled ball joint comprising such a protection cap and to different application possibilities of the protective cap for the ball joint and/or of the completely assembled ball joint.
