A fan wheel (1) comprising a base disc (3) and a cover disc (2) that has an axial inlet opening, and a blade ring arranged between the base disc (3) and the cover disc (2) and formed from fan wheel blades (4) to convey a conveyed medium, wherein the base disc (3) has a base disc edge section (6), which radially projects beyond an outer edge (7) of the blade ring, said outer edge being adjacent to the base disc (3), and the cover disc (2) has a cover disc edge section (5), which radially projects beyond an outer edge (8) of the blade ring, said outer edge being adjacent to the cover disc (2), wherein the base disc edge section (6) is inclined by an angle α in an axial direction with respect to a continuous extension (10) of a section of the base disc (3) that is directly adjacent radially inwards, and the cover disc edge section (5) is inclined by an angle ß in an axial direction with respect to a continuous extension (11) of a section of the cover disc edge section (2) that is directly adjacent radially inwards.
