The invention relates to a locking device (100) for actuating a locking mechanism of a vehicle, having a cylinder housing (10) in which a cylinder core (20) is rotatably accommodated, wherein a plurality of axially successively arranged, radially movable tumblers (30) are arranged between the cylinder housing (10) and the cylinder core (20), which tumblers can be sorted in a release position (I) by an appropriate key in the cylinder core (20) in order to rotatably uncouple the cylinder core (20) from the cylinder housing (10), and which tumblers can be latched with the cylinder housing (10) in an arresting position (II) after the withdrawal of the appropriate key from the cylinder core (20) in order to couple the cylinder core (20) to the cylinder housing (10) fixedly against rotation, and wherein at least one radially movable locking element (40) is arranged between the cylinder housing (10) and the cylinder core (20), which locking element can be retracted into a security groove (31) on at least one tumbler (30) by rotating the cylinder core (20). For this purpose, there is provision according to the invention that the security groove (31) of the at least one tumbler (30) is formed in such a way that, with the locking element (40) retracted in the security groove (31), a first play (S1) occurs between the locking element (40) and the security groove (31).
