Summary:The invention relates to an apparatus (1) for chopping vertically oriented objects (30). The apparatus (1) has a cell (2) with a housing (3), a frame element (4), at least one fastening means (12) and at least one holding element (13). The housing (3) is formed with a top side (7) and an underside (8) and at least two openings (9, 10), wherein the top side (7) has an opening (9) for receiving the object (30). The cell (2) is configured to be movable in a vertical direction of movement (14) by actuation of the at least one holding element (13) and in a horizontal direction of movement (15) by actuation of the frame element (4). Arranged within the cell (2) is at least one cutting device (18). The invention also relates to a method for chopping vertically oriented objects (30).
