Summary: | An aircraft propulsion system 100 includes a boundary layer ingestion BLI fan system 106 disposed at an aft end 18 of an aircraft 13. The BLI fan system 106 includes a fan 210 that is configured to rotate about an axial centerline 202 of the BLI fan system 106 in a first direction of rotation 402. The BLI fan system 106 includes blades 212 that are positioned at a first pitch angle 436 configured to rotate with the fan 210. An electric motor 40 operably coupled with the BLI fan system 106 is configured to change a direction of rotation of the fan 210 to a different, second direction of rotation 502. An actuator 218 operably coupled with the BLI fan system 106 is configured to change a position of the blades 212 of the fan 210 to be positioned at a different, second pitch angle 536. |
