Summary:An information processing apparatus (4) to which an input apparatus (6, 8, 10) is connected through a wire or wirelessly is provided. The information processing apparatus includes execution means for executing an application program (160) in accordance with an operation by a user accepted by the input apparatus, obtaining means for obtaining update data (210) for firmware (108, 118) of the input apparatus from a server (200) through a network, and update means for performing processing for updating the firmware of the input apparatus in response to a request from the application program while the application program is being executed. The execution means suspends execution of the application program before update of the firmware by the update means and resumes execution of the application program in response to completion of update of the firmware by the update means.
