Summary:The present invention relates to a coolant pump (5) for an engine cooling circuit (1) of a motor vehicle, having a housing (11) in which there is rotatably arranged an impeller (20) which is arranged in the housing (11) between a suction chamber (22) and a pressure chamber (23), having an engine port (10) which is formed on the housing (11) and which is fluidically connected to the pressure chamber (23), and having a cooler port (16) which is formed on the housing (11) and which is fluidically connected to the suction chamber (22). A particularly compact structural form for the engine cooling circuit (1) is obtained if, on the housing (11), there is formed a bypass port (18) which is fluidically connected to the suction chamber (22) and if, in the housing (11), a thermostat valve (19) for the temperature-dependent control of the bypass port (18) is arranged in the suction chamber (22).
