METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DETERMINING A DETERIORATION STATE IN A SUSPENSION MEMBER FOR AN ELEVATOR

A device (17) for detecting a deterioration state in a suspension member arrangement (9) for an elevator (1) is proposed. The suspension member arrangement (9) comprises at least one suspension member (11) having a first and a second group (24a, 24b) of electrically conductive cords (23) and the met...

Summary:A device (17) for detecting a deterioration state in a suspension member arrangement (9) for an elevator (1) is proposed. The suspension member arrangement (9) comprises at least one suspension member (11) having a first and a second group (24a, 24b) of electrically conductive cords (23) and the method comprises -applying a first and a second alternating voltages (U 1 , U 2 ) having the same waveform and a phase difference of 180°, to a respective first end (25a, 25b) of the first and of the second group (24a, 24b) of cords -determining at least one of a summed voltage U + or a differential voltage U - , respectively correlating to a sum (U 3 + U 4 ) of or a difference (U 3 - U 4 ) between, a third voltage U 3 between a second end (27a) of the first group of cords and a common electrical potential and a fourth voltage U 4 between a second end (27b) of the second group of cords and the common electrical potential - determining the deterioration state based on at least one of the summed voltage U + and the differential voltage U - . Due to the 180° phase shift, the correlated summed and/or differential voltage U + , U - allow detection of deteriorations in a suspension member (11) such as cord breaks, shunts between cords, connections between cords and ground potential and/or deterioration due to corrosion of cords.
