Summary:The invention relates to a torsional vibration damper which is also called a rotational vibration damper for reducing the torsional vibrations which occur as rotational speed and torque pulsation during operation of an internal combustion engine. As essential components, the torsional vibration damper comprises a hub (4) which is fixed on the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine, a hub ring (6) which is connected to the hub (4) by way of a plurality of threaded bolts (5) and is configured as a shaped sheet metal part, and a vibration damper ring (7) which serves at the same time as a pulley wheel and is connected by means of an elastic layer (8) to an outer surface of a bent-away portion (9) of the hub ring (6). For efficient reduction of the noise emissions which occur, the torsional vibration damper (3) is equipped with two shaped bodies (10, 11) made from polyurethane foam which bear flatly against different outer surfaces (12, 13) of the hub ring (6) in a radially inner region or in an adjoining radially outer region. Unlike in the prior art, noise damping is achieved by way of the shaped bodies (10, 11) according to the invention by noise propagation being prevented by way of absorption of air-borne noise.
